Hey internet: I just requested an invite to Pinterest. What's the difference between that and, say, Tumblr?
I can't speak to Pinterest, but I'm a member of Gentlemint (Pinterest's more manly wannabe) and it appears that the focus is on the associated image. Find the image, pin it to your wall - clicking on the image will reveal the underlying content. There isn't necessarily a concept of a timeline, as is found in blogs and Facebook.
